Just finished reading Ted Chiang's Stories of Your Life and Others. Odd, quirky, speculative/science fiction short stories. Two favorites: "Understand", which reads like "Flowers for Algernon" written by Philip K. Dick (although a notch down from the intensity of either), and "Liking What You See: A Documentary", which, in diary entries, letters, and netcast snippets, presents a story of the impact of calliagnosia (lack of emotional response to beauty in people's faces, in this case artificially induced) on a society very much like ours.
