Read recently: China Miéville's Railsea. An exquisite dreamscape. Has gaps in believability, as dreams tend to (I'll put a "for instance" in comments to avoid spoilers); is nevertheless a very special treat for anyone fascinated by trains, trestles, rails, and journeys.

For instance: why wouldn't moldywarpes absolutely destroy rails on great portions of the Railsea? They would certainly be capable of it, if we assume the given physics. We don't see them constantly followed by angels, either. So why?

Also, I have dreamt of a world with a remarkably similar feel.

Finished it a few days ago. I loved it. Not always an easy read, but thoroughly enjoyable.
